Differing from many companies, Core do not believe that all drainage problems need major equipment and expensive machinery. With all works, there is always a process, an initial assessment and understanding of the problem in hand. It's not equipment clears blocked drains or remedies ongoing problems, it's knowledge, expertise and experience. This efficiency in all things drainage also keeps the costs down.
Many blocked drains can be cleared effectively using standard drain clearing equipment. However, for the more difficult drain unblocks, the basic drain tools may not be sufficient, which is where high-pressure water jetting machines come in. Powered and regulated water pressure is pumped through a flexible jetting hose and nozzle. This jetting hose is fed and worked through the drainage system at access point, entering and eventually breaking up the blockage, thus restoring full flow to your drainage system.
Blocked toilets are very high on the list of blockages called out to, but on occasions, the reason for the blockage is due to a flushed object, like a child's toy. However, the top cause of a blocked toilet, and on the increase, is the accidentally flushed hanging toilet rim block. In most cases the client doesn't even know it's been flushed! Whatever the reason for the blocked toilet, and whatever the recommendation, Core have you covered.
Often full of grease and food waste, the external kitchen sink gully drain odour can be quite overpowering. Usually building up over a long period, sometimes many years, indeed, left unattended, the kitchen foul water gully can fill with waste, congeal, block and then overflow, causing a smelly, slippery and dangerous mess. This can sometimes also affect the kitchen sink trap, stopping or reducing the flow through the waste outlet.
Regular maintenance of the internal trap and the external drain would be recommended.
The modern waste pipe drainage system is all about aesthetics, so the majority of all the pipework is generally hidden away behind walls, under floors, boxed-in, covered in tiles and difficult to access. It's impossible to know if the integrity of the installation is perfect, the parts used, or their age. If experience tells us anything, it is that all installations are not equal and imperfect installations are commonplace. And so, clearing a blockage from a waste pipe sited within floor and ceiling space can be fraught with risk, and so Core would always advise extreme caution with all of these types of blockages.
Blocked soil vent pipes can invariably be reported as blocked toilets, and so, without drain clearing experience, toilets can often be removed unnecessarily. More often than not the blockage will be located below-ground, at an underground rest bend, or an inspection chamber, but only affecting the soil vent pipe. Avoid filling your home with foul smelling gases, assess and determine the location of the blockage before removing your toilet.
Most external drainage, but not all, will be found underground, leading away from gullies, manholes, inspection chambers and soil vent pipes. Leaking and overflowing drains will be the obvious sign of a blocked drain or drainage system, but foul odours can often be the first indication. The objective should always be to clear a blocked drain as soon as possible, as leaving it will only make the drain more difficult to clear and possibly incur additional costs. Left unattended, blocked drains can become a distinct health hazard.
So, from blocked bathroom grids, blocked manholes and inspection chambers, to grease, food-filled and overflowing kitchen gullies, we have you covered.
Not all drainage problems occur within normal working hours or when we have free time to spare, so when the worst happens, Core Drainage will always be there for you. However, knowing that costs for clearing blockages out of normal hours can be more expensive, we will always also prescribe good common sense advice, making every effort to help you save money.
